Mr. Ahmad Ameen
Senior Advisor EPC Project Delivery, Refining and Process Infrastructure | Member, USVN Advisory Board
Ahmad Ameen is a chemical and safety engineer and project director with more than 20 years of international experience in the delivery of oil, gas and refining projects across the Middle East, North Africa and Europe. Не holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from the University of Surrey, a Postgraduate Diploma in Safety Engineering from the University of Aberdeen and an MBA from Kingston University.
His recent projects include serving as Project Director leading the owner’s team for the South Refinery Project, a new 30,000 barrel-per-day refinery in southern Libya with capital expenditure of more than US$1.2 billion, from concept and basic engineering through EPC contracting to operational handover, and as Project Lead at Wood plc on ExxonMobil’s West Qurna 1 field infrastructure program in Iraq.
Over more than a decade with Royal Dutch Shell in Iraq and the UAE, he led engineering, procurement and construction of pipeline, gas processing, safety and community infrastructure at the Majnoon oil field, including a 70-kilometre infield pipeline network delivered three months ahead of schedule, and managed approved capital budgets of up to US$150 million. As Business Coordination Manager he represented Shell in stakeholder engagement in Iraq and overseas, and he has represented operators in negotiations with national oil companies and government ministries. Earlier in his career he held process and technical safety engineering roles with Dolphin Energy, Bechtel, MW Kellogg and ENTEC. He works in English and Arabic.
On the USVN Advisory Board, Mr. Ameen advises on the delivery of USVN’s processing, refining and industrial infrastructure projects. His work covers:
project strategy, capital and operating budgets and owner’s-team organisation;
EPC tender preparation, evaluation, negotiation and contract award;
process safety and health, safety and environment (HSE) performance;
engagement with national companies, government bodies and local communities.
