Despite the effects of Covid-19, wood and wooden products export still had a significant growth. To achieve that success, many wood companies had to invest in technology, product development, and apply marketing channels and online selling effectively.
Impressive export growth
Following the success of 2020, the export of wood and wood products in the first months of 2021 continued to achieve a significant growth.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the export value of forest products in the first three months of 2021 reached nearly $4 billion, increasing by 41.5% over the same period last year. The export value of wood and wood products reached 3,699 billion USD, increasing by 41.5%, non-timber forest products reached 243 million USD, increasing by 38.4%. The wood industry plays an important role in the growth of export turnover of agricultural and forestry products.
To be specified, the Covid-19 epidemic has made people in countries such as the US, Japan, Korea, EU, ... (the big export markets of Vietnam's wood) spend more time at home and have a need of shopping and using more household products. Moreover, many international buyers tend to buy from Vietnam.
The Covid-19 epidemic has directly affected the global supply chain, leading distributors in the world to diversify and seek for safe supply. Vietnam meets those requirements and needs to make good use of these opportunities.
Actively take advantage of opportunities
In the context of the limited trade and a decline in the global economy, the rise of Vietnam's wood industry is the result of a process of innovation and creativity from production investment and finding customers.
In the long term, businesses should focus on improving labor productivity, making use of materials that have verified origin, creating products that are multi-functional and environmentally friendly, thereby helping Vietnam to maintain an important position in the global wood market
